Preventative Dental Services

Dental Exams & Check Ups

These appointments include a full mouth review, bitewing x-rays and a personal customised treatment plan.

We strongly recommend 6 monthly check ups and hygiene appointments to maintain optimum oral health.

Fissure Sealants

Sealants or sealing of the grooves and fissures on the biting surfaces of your teeth can protect them for life.

Dental decay will often start from food impaction in deep fissures and grooves on the teeth.

These grooves are cleaned and filled with a preventative coating. A corrugated surface is smoothed out to facilitate easier cleaning and prevents  decay.

Hygiene Appointments / Scale & Polish

6 Monthly Cleaning, Scaling, and Polishing will ensure your teeth and gums are kept healthy.

Panoramic X-Ray

The Panoramic X-ray is proven to be more diagnostic tool.

It helps to identify dental problems early, typically requiring less expensive and invasive treatment.

Bridges

A dental bridge is used to replace one or more missing teeth. With this type of restoration, one or more neighbouring teeth may be crowned and used to anchor the replacement.

Tooth replacement helps avoid shifting of surrounding teeth into gaps. If left untreated, structural changes to your mouth and jaw may occur. This can cause you difficulty with eating, speech, and other functions.

A dental bridge is custom-made to match your natural teeth in colour, size, and shape. We use strong and durable materials for your restoration. With appropriate at home and professional care, your dental bridge may last for years.

If you have a missing tooth, our dentists can help you choose the best solution. One option is to use dental bridges, which are custom-fitted tooth prosthetics that function and look like natural, healthy teeth.

We may recommend dental bridges as opposed to implants to replace a missing tooth that has neighbouring teeth with decay and/or large fillings & crowns, or a tooth that has been missing for a long time (i.e., with severe gum recession or bone loss around the area).

A bridge is custom-fitted to your bite and is placed over your natural teeth or dental implants.

Crowns

If you have a heavily damaged or decayed tooth, your dentist can help you choose the best solution. Crowns and onlays (sometimes called ‘caps’) are custom-fitted tooth prosthetics that function and look like natural, healthy teeth. They are usually fitted on teeth that are at risk of fracture (such as following a root canal) or too severely damaged or decayed to restore with a simple filling. These thin porcelain or resin shells are colour-matched to adjacent teeth and are usually bonded in place.

Dental crowns can:

  • Protect a weak tooth from breaking

  • Hold a cracked tooth together

  • Cover and support a damaged or decayed tooth

  • Cover a severely discoloured tooth

  • Restore a broken or severely worn tooth

Also, dental crowns are often used in conjunction with root canal therapy, dental implants or as an anchor for a bridge.

Crowns are typically made from porcelain to provide both strength and a natural appearance. Once treatment is complete, continue routine brushing and flossing. Keep regular office visits to help your crown last many years.

Implant Supported Crowns & Bridges

We recommend your teeth replacement plan based on your individual needs and preferences. We refer you to a specialist to have dental implants placed. Afterward, we provide high-quality crowns to complete the restoration.

BENEFITS OF DENTAL CROWN IMPLANTS:

Dental implant crowns are an aesthetic, effective solution for tooth loss. There are many great benefits to choosing dental implant crowns.

Dental implant crowns can:

  • Restore your smile

  • Improve your oral health

  • Improve your speech

  • Improve comfort

  • Improve function

  • Protect healthy bone structure

  • Provide a long-term tooth replacement solution

  • Restore your bite

CONSIDERATIONS:

There are several factors that would be considered before recommending dental implant restoration.

Some of these include:

  • Adequate bone support to anchor the implant

  • Healthy gum tissue

  • Sinus and nerve location

  • Overall health, including any chronic illnesses

Dentures & Denture Repairs

Dentures are a removable replacement for one or more missing teeth. They are used to restore both function and aesthetics. Dentures are custom fabricated to fit your mouth and match the appearance of your natural teeth. The fit of your dentures may be adjusted as needed to ensure comfort and proper function.

Complete dentures replace the full upper or lower set of teeth. Partial dentures are used to replace one or more teeth when some natural teeth remain. This prevents teeth from shifting into the space left by missing teeth.

You should clean your dentures regularly using a soft bristle toothbrush and a non-abrasive cleanser.

Extractions

We make every effort to preserve your natural teeth. However, extractions are necessary when decay has made the tooth unsalvageable or when you have advanced periodontal disease. Simple extractions are performed under local anaesthetic in the dental chair.

Complex extractions and impacted teeth are referred to maxillo facial surgeons for their expert care.

Fillings / Restorations

Harmful bacteria on teeth can lead to decay. Untreated decay may cause further complications, such as pain or infection. Composite fillings are a safe, effective solution to help preserve your teeth.

Composite fillings are made of a tooth-coloured, composite resin. This resin is strong, durable, and aesthetic. We gently remove decayed tissue and place your filling to help prevent further damage.

High Pressure Air Abrasion

(Alternative to the dental drill)

This is a conservative treatment used to clean the grooves and fissures of your teeth.

Air abrasion uses high pressure air and fine silica aluminum oxide particles to clean stains and remove decay from fissures often without the need for local anaesthetic.

Dental Implants

A dental implant mimics the form and function of a natural tooth, The dental implant is a titanium root / cylinder that gets fitted into a socket that we create in the jaw. Once the root heals, we place an artificial crown on top. The new crown is customised to match your bite and the colour of your teeth.

Laser Treatments

Lasers offer a wide range of different applications in dentistry including dental surgery, cosmetics, root canal treatment, and the treatment of gum disease. As a clinical tool, lasers are able to create precision cuts in the soft tissue while eliminating bleeding at the site, improving healing, and sterilizing root canals.

A laser beam has natural sterilization effect as it evaporates bacteria, viruses, and fungi. This leads to a decrease of local infections at the surgical site. Lasers also decrease post operative pain by sealing the nerve endings making them much more useful than conventional techniques.

Root Canal Treatments

Teeth can often die and become infected as a result of trauma, decay, or deep cracks. This can lead to severe toothache or an abscess. However, if the tooth is still structurally strong enough to restore, our dentists can often save it with root canal treatment. Root canal treatment should not be painful. We always ensure teeth are adequately anaesthetised before carrying out treatment, however if patients present with severe toothache, we sometimes have to place a soothing dressing to calm the nerve down before commencing treatment a few days later.

Root canal treatments involve the removal of internal nerve and blood vessels from the tooth. The root canal is converted into sterile hollow tubes which are filled and sealed. This treatment can take two to three appointments. Teeth that have been root treated should be crowned later to avoid fracture and breakage.

Whitening

Tooth whitening is a simple and cost-effective way of getting the most out of your smile. We use various systems such as in-chair and at-home whitening solutions, or a combination of both.

Our team will often suggest whitening your teeth prior to placing crowns on teeth visible in your smile line.
We recommend that you see the dentist for a full consultation and cleaning before proceeding with any whitening procedure.

Professional teeth whitening is safer, faster, more effective, and longer lasting than treatments you find over the counter.

Beware of cheap products. These can be dangerous, and their results are not guaranteed.
